Wizz Air has taken delivery of its first A321XLR aircraft, becoming the first airline globally to operate this model powered by Pratt & Whitney GTF engines. This marks a significant milestone as Wizz Air is also the first European low-cost operator to introduce the A321XLR into its fleet. The aircraft features a newly designed Airspace cabin with innovative lighting systems tailored for different flight phases. With this addition, Wizz Air aims to enhance its connectivity between Europe and the Middle East. The A321XLR offers an extended range of up to 4,700 nautical miles and boasts a 30% reduction in fuel burn per seat compared to older models. Airbus has already secured over 500 orders for this aircraft type, which supports up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel usage, with plans to increase this capability to 100% by 2030.
