PHILADELPHIA (May 20, 2025) - AECOM, a global leader in infrastructure, has successfully completed a $48 million extension of the Schuylkill River Trail in Philadelphia, marking a significant enhancement to the city's pedestrian and cycling infrastructure. The project, which began with a design contract awarded in 2016, features a 650-foot-long cable-stayed bridge, the first of its kind in Pennsylvania, along with 1,200 feet of boardwalk and 2,800 feet of trail. This extension provides a continuous off-road route from Christian Street to Grays Ferry Crescent, improving connectivity, reducing traffic congestion, and promoting non-motorized transportation. The innovative design, which includes lattice-patterned cables reminiscent of the Brooklyn Bridge, not only adds a new landmark to Philadelphia's skyline but also ensures long-term durability and minimal maintenance. AECOM's commitment to sustainable infrastructure is evident in this project, which is set to enhance urban mobility and improve quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
