JinkoSolar Holding (JKS) said Monday that its recycling program for used solar modules has been approved by Washington state, becoming the first stewardship plan of its kind to receive such approval.

The program, called Eagle Preserve, will begin operating on July 1 and will collect and recycle solar modules from commercial, industrial, and utility sites across the state, the company said.

JinkoSolar said the initiative complies with a Washington law requiring solar module manufacturers to provide no-cost end-of-life recycling for products sold in the state after July 1, 2017.
