Walt Disney (DIS) has filed a lawsuit against Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) YouTube to stop the appointment of a long-time Disney executive, alleging breach of contract, among other things, media outlets reported, citing a court filing.

YouTube recently announced the appointment of Justin Connolly as global head of media and sports, according to the reports.

In a lawsuit filed in a Los Angeles state court, Disney said YouTube has been aware of Connolly's employment agreement, which required him to work for the media and entertainment giant through at least March 1, 2027, Reuters reported. Connolly signed a new three-year contract last November, giving him a one-time right to terminate it until March 2027, according to the report.

Google and Disney did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
