Specialty metals company Metallus said Kristopher Westbrooks, who was chief financial officer, has been named to the newly created role of president and chief operating officer.

Westbrooks will lead the company's safety, manufacturing operations and excellence, and supply chain organizations, the company said Tuesday.

He will foster cross-functional collaboration and drive alignment with strategic initiatives, as well as support growth objectives, according to Metallus.

John Zaranec III, who was most recently division chief financial officer at Materion, will succeed Westbrooks as CFO for Metallus.

Westbrooks joined Metallus in 2018, and before that was vice president, chief accounting officer, and corporate controller at A. Schulman. He also was global accounting consultation manager and senior financial analyst for Procter & Gamble, Metallus said.

Westbrooks will receive an initial base salary of $625,000 per year.

Zaranec held various leadership roles at Materion, including chief accounting officer, corporate controller, and head of investor relations, Metallus said.

He will be paid an initial base salary of $450,000 per year.
