Initially announced on March 23, 2025, this merger involves VMI Option Merger Sub, Inc., a subsidiary of Alcon, merging with LENSAR, with the latter surviving as a wholly owned subsidiary of Alcon. On May 21, 2025, LENSAR and Alcon received a request for additional information from the Federal Trade Commission $(FTC.UK)$ regarding the merger, which extends the waiting period for the transaction. Both companies plan to promptly comply with the FTC's request and continue to collaborate with the commission. LENSAR anticipates that the merger will be finalized in the second half of 2025, following regulatory approvals and the fulfillment of closing conditions.
