Fortescue said the head of its energy arm, Mark Hutchinson, would step down and that Dino Otranto, who leads the miner's metals business, will assume an expanded role.
The Australian iron-ore producer announced the executive changes late Thursday in an overhaul that includes the departure of Chief Operating Officer Shelley Robertson.
Fortescue said Hutchinson would retire as CEO Energy but "will continue to support Fortescue in a global marketing capacity for the next year," serving as senior adviser to the board.
Robertson is stepping down to pursue nonexecutive director opportunities, the company said.
Fortescue said Otranto, who runs Fortescue's iron-ore operations in Australia, will take on operational responsibility for electrification and decarbonization, and production of hydrogen products.
The miner appointed Agustin Pichot, most recently head of global growth, to a role responsible for Fortescue's clean-energy development and growth projects.
