Standard Chartered (HKG:2888) repurchased 970,000 shares in London on Tuesday at a volume-weighted average price of around 11.648 pounds sterling apiece, a Wednesday filing with the Hong Kong bourse said.

The British lender plans to cancel the shares, after which it will have 2,353,242,178 shares in issue.
