Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI's partner Crusoe has received $11.6 billion in new funding commitments for a data center in Abilene, Texas, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.

The funding, which will come from a mixture of debt and equity provided by Blue Owl Capital (OWL) and Crusoe, will expand the data center to eight buildings from its previously planned two, each equipped with up to 50,000 Nvidia (NVDA) Blackwell chips, the report said.

Crusoe began construction on the Abilene site last June after Oracle (ORCL) agreed to lease the data center for 15 years. OpenAI agreed to rent servers from Oracle while Oracle plans to supply the data center with the Nvidia chips, according to the report.

OpenAI, Blue Owl, Crusoe, and Oracle did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
