WeRide Inc. has released its unaudited financial results for the first quarter of 2025, reporting a total revenue of RMB72.4 million (US$10.0 million), marking a 1.8% increase from the same period in 2024.
Revenue from the robotaxi business reached RMB16.1 million (US$2.2 million), contributing 22.3% to the company's total revenue in Q1 2025, an increase of 10.4 percentage points compared to its contribution in Q1 2024.
The gross profit margin was stable at 35% for the first quarter of 2025, compared to the fourth quarter of 2024.
Significant developments in WeRide's operations include the expansion of its global partnership with Uber. This collaboration aims to extend commercial robotaxi services to 15 additional cities over the next five years. In these new markets, WeRide's robotaxi services will be accessible through the Uber app, with Uber managing fleet operations.
This strategic move is part of WeRide's accelerating global commercialization efforts and its goal to diversify revenue streams. The partnership follows successful deployments in Abu Dhabi and the anticipated launch in Dubai, with Uber pledging an additional US$100 million equity investment in WeRide.
WeRide Inc. has announced a share repurchase program, with authorization to buy back up to US$100 million worth of its Class A ordinary shares over the next 12 months. The repurchases may occur in various forms, including open market transactions and privately negotiated deals, depending on market conditions. The company aims to fund these buybacks from its existing cash reserves.
