Wollongong Private Hospital, a subsidiary of Ramsay Health Care Limited, has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first center in New South Wales to offer Convergent Hybrid Therapy, a groundbreaking treatment for patients with persistent and long-standing atrial fibrillation (AF). This minimally invasive procedure combines cardiac surgery and catheter-based treatment to restore normal heart rhythm, providing new hope to individuals affected by this serious condition. Previously, patients in NSW had to travel interstate for such advanced care, but now they can access this world-class treatment closer to home. Since the launch of its cardiac surgery program in September 2021, the hospital has performed over 1,200 cardiac surgeries, establishing itself as a leader in comprehensive cardiac care. The introduction of Convergent Hybrid Therapy further enhances the hospital's capabilities, supported by the expertise of cardiologist Dr. Jayesh Gohil and cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Mohammad Azari.
