AerCap Holdings' (AER) chief executive officer, Aengus Kelly, has called on US President Donald Trump to renegotiate, expand and improve a 1979 duty-free trade agreement for the aircraft industry to include countries like China and India, Reuters reported Wednesday.

"If the president could convince other countries to join this zero-for-zero tariff agreement, that'll be an enormous win for high-tech manufacturing and engineering jobs in the United States," Reuters quoted Kelly as saying in an interview.

The aerospace industry has been demanding relief from Trump's tariffs and any reciprocal tariffs, and wants the 33-nation treaty banning such tariffs on aircrafts to be upheld, the report said.

A group of aerospace companies is expected to meet officials at the Commerce Department on Wednesday, the report said.
