BHP Group Limited has announced a new partnership with AI Singapore to advance its digital transformation and enhance its AI capabilities. This collaboration aims to develop innovative solutions to address complex challenges within BHP's operations, making them safer and more productive. By strategically deploying AI solutions, BHP plans to optimize decision-making, resource allocation, and predictive maintenance, ultimately reshaping the mining industry towards smarter and more sustainable practices. The partnership will also support the growth of BHP's digital capabilities in Singapore, involving local AI specialists to tackle business problems. Since FY22, AI implementations at BHP's Escondida copper mine in Chile have already resulted in significant resource savings, including 3 billion litres of water and 118 GWh of energy. As the initiative progresses, additional projects and partnerships are anticipated, further unlocking the potential of AI in the mining sector.
