Axis Capital reshuffles global markets team

Sarah Stephen promoted to head of liability, overseeing London-based MGA teams

Raj Brar promoted to head of construction, replacing Anna Woolley

Sam Patrick appointed head of global markets transformation, reporting to Sara Farrup

May 28 - (The Insurer) - Axis Capital announced several organizational changes within its global markets team on Wednesday, including the promotion of Sarah Stephen to head of liability.

Stephen will oversee Axis' general liability and international casualty MGA teams, which are based in London.

She will report to Dax Gulmohamed, CEO of Axis’ European trading platform, Axis Specialty Europe SE.

Gulmohamed will now also be responsible for oversight all global markets liability, in addition to professional lines.

Gulmohamed and John Owen, head of specialty, will now report to Rory MacGregor, head of underwriting for global markets, who is responsible for global markets underwriting lines.

Raj Brar, previously head of international casualty and construction MGAs, has been promoted to head of construction for global markets. This role was previously held by Anna Woolley, who is leaving Axis to join Markel International as head of construction. A spokesperson for Markel confirmed the appointment to The Insurer.

Sam Patrick, previously head of analytics and innovation, has been appointed as head of global markets transformation. Patrick will now report to Sara Farrup, who has led the global markets team since the start of the year.

The organization has created a new position for head of delegated strategy and is currently recruiting for the role.

This person will also report to Farrup and will be responsible for overseeing the leadership and development of all coverholder and MGA businesses within global markets.

The UK property binder team will now sit within the global markets property team, led by Steve Cross.
