Universal Corporation, a global agriproducts company, has announced that its Net-Zero greenhouse gas $(GHG)$ emissions target has been approved by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi). The company aims to achieve net-zero GHG emissions across its value chain by 2050. Intermediate goals include a 45% reduction in absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 2030, and a 25% reduction in scope 3 emissions in the same timeframe, using 2024 as a baseline. By 2050, Universal plans to reduce absolute scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions by 90% compared to 2024 levels. Additionally, the company commits to eliminating deforestation linked to its primary commodities by December 2025.
