Mid-Atlantic Interstate Transmission Company (MAIT), a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp., has commenced a tree trimming initiative in northern and central Pennsylvania using a helicopter equipped with an aerial saw. This operation is part of a larger $51 million vegetation management program aimed at ensuring proper clearance around over 400 miles of high-voltage power lines in the Penelec service area. The aerial saw will work across 16 counties and is expected to complete its task by the end of the year. This effort is crucial in maintaining system reliability by preventing tree-related power outages and facilitating easier access for maintenance and repairs.
