Alcoa Corporation has announced the release of its 2024 Sustainability Report, which outlines the company's approach to sustainability and its efforts to build resiliency within its global operations. The report provides a comprehensive overview of Alcoa's performance across key environmental, social, and governance $(ESG)$ indicators. Key achievements highlighted in the report include achieving zero worker fatalities or serious injuries across managed operations, sourcing 86% of the electricity used in Alcoa smelters from renewable energy, and achieving a 2.03:1 ratio of mine rehabilitation to mine disturbance. Additionally, Alcoa provided US$1.6 billion in wages and benefits to employees, spent US$8.2 million globally on workforce learning and development, and recorded over 12,300 volunteer hours contributed by employees in local communities. The report also mentions that Alcoa allocated net US$737.4 million to Eligible Green Projects from its Green Bond and completed 15 supplier site collaborations as part of its responsible sourcing program.
