Tata Motors May Sales Drop 9% on Lower Passenger Vehicle Demand

Tata Motors (BOM:500570) reported total sales of 70,187 vehicles in May 2025, down 9% from a year earlier, dragged by a drop in domestic passenger and small commercial vehicle sales, according to a Sunday filing on the local bourse.

Passenger vehicle sales, including electric models, fell 11% to 42,040 units, while commercial vehicle sales declined 5% to 28,147 units. Domestic passenger vehicle sales slid to 41,557 units from 46,697 a year ago. Electric vehicle sales grew 2% to 5,685 units.

In the commercial vehicle segment, domestic sales fell 9% to 25,872 units, with small cargo and pickup trucks posting a 20% drop. International commercial vehicle sales nearly doubled to 2,275 units.

Medium and heavy commercial vehicles (MH&ICV) sales, including trucks and buses across domestic and international markets, were flat at 13,614 units.
