1127 ET - Genesco will protect its margins by passing tariff costs onto its customers. "We do expect price increases over time," CEO Mimi Vaughn says on a call with analysts, "but know our brands are working to mitigate tariff cost pressure and ensure key franchises remain stable." The retailer is well positioned to navigate tariffs, Vaughn says. She notes the company is diversified across its brands and will continue working to reduce its exposure to China. These actions should offset much of the tariff impact, but remaining costs will likely trickle down to shoppers, Vaughn says: "The biggest unknown will be the consumer response to price increases and inflationary pressure in general."
