U.S. natural gas inventories likely saw a sixth consecutive week of triple-digit increases, according to a Wall Street Journal survey, as cooler-than-normal weather in the eastern U.S. and the Memorial Day holiday limited demand.

Natural gas in underground storage is expected to have risen by 113 billion cubic feet to 2,589 Bcf in the week ended May 30, according to the average estimate of 10 analysts, brokers and traders. Estimates range from an injection of 95 Bcf to an injection of 126 Bcf.

The expected inventory build is larger than the five-year average injection for the week of 98 Bcf, and would increase the surplus over the average to 108 Bcf from 93 Bcf the week before. It would leave storage 297 Bcf below the year-earlier level, compared with a year-on-year deficit of 316 Bcf the previous week.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration is scheduled to report weekly inventory data on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. EDT.
