By Isha Marathe

June 5 - (The Insurer) - Burns & Wilcox has promoted Bill Gatewood, who has been with the company for 15 years, to executive vice president, personal insurance, effective July 1.

Gatewood first joined Burns & Wilcox in 2013 as associate vice president, and held several roles, the most recent of which was senior vice president and personal insurance practice leader since the start of 2018.

Under Gatewood’s leadership, the Burns & Wilcox personal insurance practice grew annually by double-digits and more than 500% in total. In 2024, Burns & Wilcox grew its personal insurance business by more than 30%.

“Bill continues to serve as a trusted advisor and an outstanding leader across Burns & Wilcox and HW Kaufman Group,” said Burns & Wilcox president Danny Kaufman.

“He has also mentored countless Burns & Wilcox and Kaufman associates across North America and worldwide. We appreciate Bill’s commitment to our company and for always supporting its ongoing evolution.”

Gatewood and his team have worked to launch private client, flood insurance products and the company's first homeowners' wildfire protection partnership in the E&S marketplace. Recently, they introduced a new high-value homeowners product that targets CAT-prone areas.

Prior to Burns & Wilcox, Gatewood held roles at The Navigators Group, Chubb, and Safeco.

In April, Burns & Wilcox appointed Alex Gargano and Erica Rangel to leadership positions within its New York and Chicago offices, respectively.
