PTC Inc. has entered a partnership with Aura Aero, a leader in sustainable aviation, to unveil next-generation model-based definition (MBD) capabilities within PTC's Onshape platform. This collaboration, showcased at the Paris Air Show, marks the first MBD offering within a cloud-native CAD and PDM solution, aiming to enhance collaboration among engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing teams. The cloud-native MBD in Onshape allows for a complete digital definition of a product, embedding all essential product manufacturing information directly into the 3D CAD model. This innovation promises to remove the reliance on 2D drawings, enabling faster and clearer communication, and facilitating a fully digital end-to-end process. The partnership with Aura Aero highlights the transformative potential of these capabilities in designing, collaborating, and accelerating the path from concept to production, with Aura Aero aiming to certify its aircraft entirely digitally.
