Energy stocks advanced 1.5% at midday Thursday, as oil prices advanced to an over two-month high on Wednesday, with Brent crude futures settling 4.3% higher at $69.77 per barrel.

Peninsula Energy (ASX:PEN) said that it is progressing the construction of the second phase of the central processing plant, and the commissioning and handover activities are scheduled to begin in June. It is finalizing revised production guidance that will lower the expected production rates in 2026 and 2027 from previous expectations. It is also in talks with several parties for interim debt funding.

On the flip side, the consumer discretionary sector fell 0.3%.

Myer Holdings (ASX:MYR) said that Jacquie Naylor will retire from the firm's board after six years as an independent non-executive director on June 23.
