BlockBeats reported on June 11 that a dispute erupted between Ethereum developer Péter Szilágyi and Ethereum Foundation's co-executive director Tomasz Stańczak. Szilágyi stated that as a key member of the Geth (Go Ethereum, the main client software for Ethereum) development team, the foundation had proposed multiple times in the past to offer $5 million for the Geth team to spin off and become independent from the foundation. However, Szilágyi and his team members rejected the proposal and chose to remain within the foundation. Previously, the Ethereum Foundation had provided $5 million in unconditional funding to Parity (another Ethereum client development company) to ensure Ethereum network diversity by having multiple clients, which reduces reliance on Geth, indicating the foundation's long-term intention to decentralize client development responsibilities.
The Ethereum Foundation's co-executive director Tomasz Stańczak clarified in a post, "There are no plans to remove Geth. It is a great client software and a talented team contributing to protocol security. We will maintain and support Geth."
