The shares of gold producers jumped in recent trading on Thursday as gold prices rose over 1% on Wednesday after the US consumer price index increased by a lower amount in May than what was expected.

The shares of Northern Star Resources (ASX:NST) rose 2.2%, while those of Newmont (ASX:NEM) surged 3.2%.
