Nvidia stock looked set to rise to start the week, but several potential catalysts are looming as key events take place across the Atlantic.

Nvidia rose 0.5% to $142.39 in premarket trading Monday after a 1.2% gain Friday. S&P 500 and Nasdaq futures were up 0.1% and flat, respectively.

CEO Jensen Huang delivered the opening keynote speech at London Tech Week early Monday alongside U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

Nvidia is also announcing several artificial-intelligence initiatives during the conference, such as establishing a U.K. sovereign AI industry forum together with British companies including BAE Systems, BT and Standard Chartered.

Separately, trade talks between the U.S. and China are scheduled to take place in London Monday.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer will meet their Chinese counterparts, following a Thursday phone call between President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping. The two countries agreed to pause a big chunk of tariffs on each other's goods in Geneva last month.

Among other chip stocks, Advanced Micro Devices gained 0.9% and Marvell Technology added 1.7%. Broadcom stock rose 0.4%.

Qualcomm rose 0.4% after securing a deal to buy London-listed Alphawave IP Group for $2.4 billion. Alphawave's high-speed wired connectivity and compute technologies will complement Qualcomm's next generation processors, it said in a statement early Monday.
