SS Innovations International (SSII) said Monday that its SSi Mantra 3 surgical robotic system was used successfully to perform robotic cardiac surgery.
The company said the surgery involved a robotic Atrial Septal Defect closure, which is a procedure that repairs a hole between the two upper chambers of the heart.
SS Innovations also said it was the first time the robotic system had been used in the Americas and Western Hemisphere.
Shares of the company were up 5% in recent trading.
