BHP Group (ASX:BHP) said a AU$10.6 million multi-purpose community pavilion is set to be built alongside Goldfields Art Centre as the first investment from its WA Nickel Community Fund, the company said in a Friday statement.
The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder will fund part of the pavilion with AU$6.6 million, while BHP will provide AU$3 million, and Lotterywest will also co-fund with AU$1 million.
The construction will start between August to September, with completion set for May 2026.
The company's AU$20 million WA Nickel Community Fund was established in 2024 to support the communities most impacted by the temporary suspension of the Western Australia Nickel operations, the statement added.
The company's shares fell 2% in recent Friday trade.
