Millicom International Cellular will buy Telefonica Ecuador's telecommunications operations in a deal valued at $380 million.
The acquisition enhances Millicom's regional footprint and commercial reach, and lays the foundation for innovation, digital inclusion, and sustained long-term growth, the company said Friday. The deal also enhances Millicom's geographic diversification, the company said.
Chief Executive Officer Marcelo Benitez said the acquisition reflects long-term confidence in Latin America and the company's commitment to purposeful, sustainable growth.
In May, Millicom agreed to acquire Telefonica's Uruguay operations of in a deal with an enterprise value of $440 million.
Millicom provides fixed and mobile telecommunications services in Latin America.
