CenterPoint Energy Inc. has announced a significant development in its efforts to bolster the resilience of Houston's electric grid. The company has reached a settlement agreement regarding its 2026-2028 Systemwide Resiliency Plan $(SRP.UK)$, which marks the largest single grid resiliency investment in CenterPoint's history. Pending review and approval by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT), this plan aims to reduce storm-related outages by nearly 1 billion minutes for its 2.8 million customers by 2029. The plan involves an investment of over $3 billion in CenterPoint's electric distribution system, with deferred costs to minimize the impact on customer bills. This initiative builds on the progress made during the Greater Houston Resiliency Initiative, focusing on a wide range of extreme weather threats. The SRP is a crucial step towards ensuring a more reliable and resilient energy infrastructure for the Greater Houston area.
