Geospace Technologies Corporation has secured a Permanent Reservoir Monitoring contract from Petrobras for the Mero Fields 3 and 4, located offshore in the Santos Basin near Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The contract entails the supply and installation of nearly 500 kilometers of the OptoSeis® PRM system across a 140 square kilometer seabed area. Beginning in June 2025, the multi-year agreement includes the engineering, procurement, construction, and operation of the monitoring system, with installation handled by Blue Marine Telecom. The OptoSeis® system, known for its high dynamic range and data fidelity, aims to optimize oil production in the Mero field. The project is part of a collaboration with Petrobras and partners including Shell Brasil, TotalEnergies, CNODC, CNOOC, and Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A.
