Halliburton Company has secured a contract with GeoFrame Energy for a significant geothermal and direct lithium extraction (DLE) project in East Texas. This collaboration involves the planning and design of demonstration phase wells in the Smackover Formation, expected to commence in late 2025. GeoFrame Energy aims to lead U.S. domestic lithium production by delivering battery-grade lithium carbonate from this formation. Halliburton will support the project with its extensive well expertise, focusing on the construction, design, and operation of demonstration wells, eventually expanding into full field development. The project will also utilize geothermal brine to generate renewable electricity, further enhancing its sustainability efforts.
