Walt Disney (DIS)-owned ESPN is acquiring a minority stake in the Premier Lacrosse League, media outlets reported Wednesday.
The deal reportedly includes a new five-year media rights agreement with the PLL, covering both the men's and women's leagues, though financial terms were not disclosed.
All PLL matches will be streamed on ESPN+, with select games simulcast on ABC through 2030, the news outlets reported.
The deal shows ESPN's shift towards equity investments in emerging leagues to support its direct-to-consumer streaming strategy, according to the reports.
Disney, ESPN, and Premier Lacrosse League did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
