Pennsylvania American Water has announced an agreement with the City of Pittston to acquire its wastewater collection system for $26.4 million. The system currently serves around 4,400 customers in the city. As part of this agreement, Pennsylvania American Water has committed to investing over $5.1 million in necessary upgrades over the next five years, focusing on main replacements, technology updates, and improving security and geographic information systems. The transaction is expected to close by late 2026, pending necessary regulatory approvals. The proceeds from the sale will support community services and projects, including the Market & Main development. Current collection rates will remain in place at the time of purchase, with future rate changes subject to approval by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission.
