BlockBeats News, June 26th. According to Cointelegraph, a UK man has been charged for activities on a cybercrime forum under the alias "IntelBroker," and is accused of selling stolen data, causing over $25 million in losses.
The US Southern District of New York Attorney's Office announced the indictment of Kai West. West allegedly engaged in illegal activities under the alias IntelBroker on the dark web black market, causing victims to lose over $25 million.
West conspired with a cyber gang named CyberNers* to steal data from multiple companies, including a telecommunications company, a municipal healthcare provider, an internet service provider, and over 40 other companies.
According to the indictment, an undercover law enforcement officer once sent a direct message to "IntelBroker," seeking to purchase a victim's data for $250 worth of Bitcoin (BTC). The other party provided an address associated with West, and upon payment, delivered the data, allegedly including three administrator-level usernames and passwords. West and his online associates had listed this illegally obtained data for sale for over $2 million. He was later arrested in France in February of this year, and the US is currently seeking his extradition.
