Producers of metals and other raw materials rose amid optimism about trade negotations.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said President Trump could extend a July 9 deadline the administration has set to arrive at trade deals with more than a dozen nations or risk the reimposition of steep tariffs.
Copper futures rose as traders bet a U.S. review of imports for the red metal would lead to continued stockpiling in America, and shortages elsewhere.
