Market Chatter: China Eases Japan Seafood Ban, Allows Imports From Most Regions Except Fukushima

China has lifted its 2023 ban on seafood imports from most of Japan, marking a step toward easing tensions with its neighbor, Bloomberg News reported on Monday.

The move implements an agreement reached last September, though restrictions remain in place for 10 prefectures, including Fukushima, due to lingering concerns over the 2011 nuclear disaster, said the news wire.

The General Administration of Customs announced the policy change on Sunday, reopening the market to Japanese seafood producers outside the affected regions, the publication said.
