AML3D (ASX:AL3) said it received a letter of intent from the US Navy, outlining plans to collaborate with the company on several additive manufacturing initiatives by regularly briefing it on US Navy demand forecasts, according to a Monday Australian bourse filing.

The letter focuses on the firm's ability to support materials characterization, parts manufacturing, and the supply of the firm's Arcemy metal 3D printing systems, the filing said.

It includes the Maritime Industrial Base demand study findings that a minimum of around 400 parts will need to be produced in 2026, which is expected to increase to around 1,600 parts by 2030.

The firm's shares rose 5% in recent trading on Monday, earlier hitting their highest since April 2021.
