The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down around 0.2% in late-morning trading Tuesday, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite hovered around zero after President Donald Trump said earlier that his widespread tariffs would go into effect on Aug. 1 and that there will be no extensions.

In company news, Canada's Competition Bureau said Tuesday it has obtained a court order to advance its investigation into Amazon.com's (AMZN) Marketplace Fair Pricing Policy, which allows Amazon to penalize sellers for certain conduct. Separately, Amazon Prime Day sales were down nearly 14% in the first four hours of the event Tuesday compared to the start of last year's Prime Day, Bloomberg reported, citing data from Momentum Commerce. This year's Prime Day will last for four days compared to last year's two-day event, which makes comparisons challenging, the report said. Amazon shares were down 1.7% around midday.

Boeing (BA) said Tuesday it delivered 150 commercial airplanes in Q2, a 63% jump from the year-ago period's 92 deliveries. The 737 program led the way, delivering 104 airplanes, up from 70 last year. The defense, space and security programs delivered 36 aircraft in Q2, up from 28 in the year-ago period. Boeing shares were down 1.2%.

Honeywell (HON) said Tuesday it plans to assess strategic alternatives for its Productivity Solutions and Services and Warehouse and Workflow Solutions units. The assessment is aimed at further simplifying its portfolio ahead of its planned separation into three independent companies, the company said. Honeywell shares were up 0.4%.

Hershey (HSY) said Tuesday it has appointed Kirk Tanner as president and chief executive, effective Aug. 18. Tanner will succeed Michele Buck, who announced her retirement earlier this year. Buck will remain in a senior advisory role to support the transition, the company said. Tanner most recently served as president and CEO of Wendy's (WEN). Hershey shares were down 3.2%, while Wendy's shares were fractionally lower.
