Medtronic (MDT) said Tuesday it appointed Chad Spooner as chief financial officer of new diabetes firm MiniMed, ahead of its planned separation into a standalone public company.

The company said that effective July 14, Spooner will have oversight of the finance function for Medtronic Diabetes as it readies to be fully independent.

Spooner most recently served as CFO of global consumer goods firm BIC, Medtronic said.
