President Trump will soon issue 15 to 20 more letters to world leaders informing them of the tariff rate that will be applied to imports from their countries starting on Aug. 1, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said on Tuesday. A few more deals to avert the so-called reciprocal tariffs could also be announced, he added. "You should expect another 15-20 letters over the next two days, setting down tariff lines for the key driving countries," Lutnick said on CNBC following a White House Cabinet meeting.

He added that the president could also announce more trade deals with other nations, but that he would drive a hard bargain for concessions from each trading partner. "My guess is he will do it with a few other countries," Lutnick said of new deals. "But basically if they don't really open their market... the president is saying 'Look, we've got these huge trade deficits, it's time for you to pay the tariff.'"
