1012 ET - Steep 50% tariffs on Brazilian exports to the U.S. could hurt some of the country's largest corporations. President Trump said yesterday the levies will go into effect next month. Brazil is relatively closed to international trade and imports more from than it exports to the U.S. UBS economists write that only 12% of Brazil's exports go to the U.S. But they expect tariffs to have a negative impact on capital goods producer WEG and jet maker Embraer. Brazil's Ibovespa stock index is down 1%. U.S.-traded shares of WEG fall 1% and Embraer's drop 7%. (paulo.trevisani@wsj.com; @ptrevisani)
