European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were higher late Thursday morning, rising 0.60% to 1,514.46 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.
From continental Europe, the gainers were led by semiconductor company Sequans Communications (SQNS) and biopharmaceutical company Grifols (GRFS), which advanced 13% and 3.3%, respectively. They were followed by medical device maker EDAP TMS (EDAP) and electronics conglomerate Philips (PHG), which were up 2.6% and 1.8%, respectively.
The decliners from continental Europe were led by financial services company Banco Santander (SAN) and 3D printer company Materialise (MTLS), which fell 2.8% and 1.8%, respectively. They were followed by financial services company Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA) and software firm SAP (SAP), which were down 1.6% and 1.4%, respectively.
From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by mining company BHP Group (BHP) and tobacco company British American Tobacco (BTI), which rose 4.3% and 2%, respectively. They were followed by medical device maker Smith & Nephew (SNN) and pharmaceutical company GSK (GSK), which dropped 1.9% and 1.8%, respectively.
The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical company Mereo BioPharma Group (MREO) and software company Endava (DAVA), which dropped 34% and 3%, respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical companies Bicycle Therapeutics (BCYC) and Biodexa Pharmaceuticals (BDRX), which lost 1.5% and 1.1%, respectively.
