TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Makarim appeared for questioning by the investigative team of the Attorney General's Office on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. He arrived at the Attorney General's Office (AGO) around 09:00 local time accompanied by his lawyer, Hotman Paris Hutapea.
In addition to Nadiem, investigators also questioned former Tokopedia President Melissa Siska Juminto as a witness in the alleged corruption case related to the procurement of Chromebooks at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) from 2019 to 2022. "Investigators from the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes questioned MSJ as the owner of PT Gojek Indonesia," said Head of Public Relations of the Attorney General's Office Harli Siregar in Jakarta on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
Harli further stated that on the same day, investigators also summoned the former CEO of PT Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GoTo) Andre Soelistyo and a witness identified by the initials FHK as the Senior Division Manager of PT Datascript. The questioning was conducted to strengthen and complement the case files in the ongoing corruption investigation.
To trace the alleged corruption, investigators conducted a search at the GoTo office on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. Evidence seized from the search includes documents, letters, and electronic devices such as flash drives.
The alleged corruption took place from 2019 to 2022 in the Chromebook procurement project. The Attorney General's Office suspects there was a conspiracy in the project. Based on technical assessments, the recommended laptops were Windows-based. The rationale behind this was that these devices could be used even without an internet connection. In contrast, Chromebooks can only be operated in areas with existing internet networks.
From a budget perspective, Harli stated that the procurement involved a spending of Rp9.982 trillion. The breakdown was Rp3.582 trillion from educational institution funds and approximately Rp6.399 trillion from special allocation funds.
