Australian shares are poised to rise Tuesday after US President Donald Trump said he is willing to negotiate with the European Union and other trading partners, ahead of the planned 30% tariffs from Aug 1.
Overnight, the Nasdaq Composite, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 rose 0.3%, 0.2%, and 0.1% respectively.
In corporate news, Woodside Energy Group (ASX:WDS) and Santos (ASX:STO) will be in the spotlight as oil prices fell after the US threatened secondary sanctions on countries buying oil from Russia.
Australia's benchmark index finished slightly lower at 8,570.40 on Monday.
