HSBC (HKG:0005) bought back for cancellation nearly 4.3 million shares from Morgan Stanley on Thursday, according to a Hong Kong bourse filing Friday.
The bank bought 2,507,150 shares from UK avenues, which include the London Stock Exchange, Aquis Exchange, and Cboe Europe, at a volume-weighted average price of 9.29 pounds sterling each.
HSBC also repurchased a further 1,792,000 shares from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange at a volume-weighted average price of HK$97.84 apiece.
The shares were repurchased as part of the company's buyback program.
