Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (TYO:9101) said its logistics arm Yusen Logistics will acquire the healthcare logistics business of France-based Walden Group for about 1.25 billion euros (210 billion yen) as it looks to strengthen its presence in Europe and expand in high-value medical supply chains, according to a Thursday company statement.
The deal will be executed through the purchase of all shares in Movianto International B.V., following a put option agreement between Yusen Logistics (Europe) B.V. and Walden. Completion is subject to European works council consultation and regulatory approvals.
The acquisition includes Movianto, Eurotranspharma, Transpharma International, and Walden Digital, which together operate 138 sites in 12 countries, employing about 5,400 people. The unit posted 2024 revenue of around 790 million euros.
Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha has identified logistics as a core growth area, and this is its third major acquisition since 2024, following deals in UK e-commerce and Dutch auto parts logistics.
