Granite Construction Inc., in a joint venture with Obayashi Corporation, has been awarded a $158 million federally funded task order by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) for the construction of the Guam Defense System. The project, located in South Finegayan, involves significant infrastructure work, including 60,000 linear feet of underground ductbank, 110,000 cubic yards of mass earthwork, and a 220,000-gallon steel water tank, among other components. Spanning approximately 120 acres, the site will support future missile defense infrastructure. Construction is set to begin in late July 2025, with completion expected by July 2028. Granite's Vice President of Regional Operations, Curt Haldeman, emphasized the company's commitment to national defense and regional security through this critical project.
