HSBC (HKG:0005) said it bought back for cancellation over 5.1 million shares from Morgan Stanley, according to a Hong Kong bourse filing Tuesday.
The bank bought 3,200,186 shares from UK avenues, which include the London Stock Exchange, Aquis Exchange, and Cboe Europe, at a volume-weighted average price of 9.35 pounds sterling each.
HSBC also repurchased a further 1,924,000 shares from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange at a volume-weighted average price of HK$98.57 apiece.
The shares were repurchased as part of the company's buyback program.
