Shimmick Corporation, a leader in complex infrastructure solutions, has secured a $51 million contract for the Bellota Weir Modifications project in Stockton, California. Awarded by the Stockton East Water District, the project aims to enhance regional water resilience and environmental restoration. The construction, set to begin in 2025, involves the installation of a new inflatable Obermeyer gate weir, advanced fish screens, and a vertical slot fish ladder. It also includes a gravity flow conveyance system and site improvements to bolster groundwater recharge and ecological restoration. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to improve water reliability and fish habitats on the Calaveras River, aligning with conservation efforts for threatened species like the Central Valley steelhead and Chinook salmon.
